QR code tips for codes that scan every time

Most failed QR codes come from a few avoidable mistakes.

Keep high contrast

Use dark modules on a light background. Inverted or low-contrast colors confuse many scanners.

Leave the white border

The empty margin around a code, called the quiet zone, helps scanners find it. Our generator adds it for you.

Choose error correction

Low restores about 7% of damaged data, Medium 15%, Quartile 25% and High 30%. Higher levels survive scratches or a logo but make the pattern denser.

Print it big enough

A width of about 2 cm (0.8 in) is a sensible minimum for close-range scanning. Use the SVG download for print so edges stay sharp.

Test before you publish

Scan the final code with two different phones, in the lighting where people will use it. Shorter links make simpler, easier codes.
